Palash is an initiative implemented by Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), under the Rural Development Department, Government of Jharkhand. It was launched on 29th September 2020 with the vision to bring the products of women Self Help Groups (SHGs) under one brand so that they can reach bigger markets. The aim is to provide better income, identity, and livelihood opportunities to rural women.
Palash covers the full value chain – production, collectivization, processing, packaging, branding, and marketing – with ownership of SHG women and their institutions like Producer Groups (PGs), FPOs, and FPCs.
There are about 5,000 PGs engaged in POP-based cultivation and collectivization with almost 2 lakh members. Palash is creating both employment and self-employment and plays an important role in boosting the rural economy. At present, more than 5,000 rural women are directly working in packaging, processing, and marketing centres, while around 2 lakh SHG members are earning through different Palash activities.
Palash builds the identity of rural women entrepreneurs by ensuring purity, originality, and trust in every product. It gives women the power to directly reach the market without middlemen and earn better profit margins.
Expanding reach of Palash : Today, 30+ products are available in the market through an exclusive network of 46 Palash Marts and several display counters in different districts.
Popular products under Palash include: Soap, Mustard Oil, Rice, Arhar Dal, Millet Flour, Honey, Jeera Phool, Pickles, Bamboo handicrafts, Masks, chocolates, Ragi/Jowar/Mahua Ladoo etc.
Palash is a growing brand of rural and tribal women entrepreneurs of Jharkhand, strengthening their identity and contributing to the state’s rural economy.
